Probability Characteristics, Area Reduction, and Wind Directionality Effects of Extreme Pressure Coefficients of High-Rise Buildings

Wind tunnel tests are carried out for the Commonwealth Advisory Aeronautical Research Council (CAARC) high-rise building with a scale of 1:400 in exposure categories D. The distribution law extreme pressure coefficients under different conditions is studied. Probability fitting performed on measured area-averaged coefficients. general value (GEV) preferred probability From comparison between and from GB50009-2012, it indicated that wind load GB50009-2012 may be non-conservative CAARC building. area reduction effect smaller than mean code. recommended formula factor coefficient proposed this study. It found variation (COV) directionality factors 0.85 0.04, respectively, when orientation given. If uniform given building’s orientation, 0.88, which close to 0.90 Chinese specifications.
